Collection care
Proofroom Cambridge offers general museum etiquette, not handling or conservation instructions. Staff directions, rights-holder requirements, cultural authority, and qualified professional advice always take priority.
Use supplied supports
Use only the supports, weights, tools, and protective equipment requested or supplied by responsible staff.
Keep the table clear
Food, drink, pens, adhesives, cosmetics, and loose personal belongings stay away from collection material.
Preserve order
Keep labels, folders, enclosures, and sequence with the material they describe.
Do not intervene
Do not clean, polish, repair, test, sample, trace, rub, or apply substances because of an app prompt.
Respect restrictions
Photography, copyright, privacy, tikanga, cultural, donor, and access restrictions may apply even when an item can be viewed.
Stop at a concern
If damage, pests, mould, sharp material, instability, or hazardous content is suspected, stop and alert responsible staff.
Leave as directed
Finish by returning the workspace and material exactly as staff direct.

The app never authorizes handling.
